What are the ankles good for, relative to stance work and mobility? As for footwork: take a stance, bend both the ankles so that you lower your position. Then bend the front foot's ankle even more so that your toes rise and your heel not. Advance the front foot while focusing of keeping your toes high and land the feet heel first. It's not different from the usual step practiced in Taichi and - i believe - Bagua. |

How do I increase hip flexibility for round kicks? I'm not a good kicker, so I'm not providing this as an answer. If I were in you I'd train flexibility alone in the home, doing the correct form of kicking at the height you can reach (waist). Do it slowly and confortably and have something to rest your feet against at the end of the movement (a wall, a door), before moving your leg back. |

Drills for reducing your natural “flinch” reaction 1. Make a quick, nervous movement of the face or body as an instinctive reaction to surprise, fear or pain (she flinched at the acidity in his voice / he had faced death without flinching) |

Which muscles do I use to stand?**Occidental people** tend to develop very bad habits when it comes to standing. Not enough walking, too much sitting, too much puffing of the chest -- and so on. Take a look to any chinese, japanese, indian teenager and you'll change your mind very quickly about this one. As for the real question, it's not totally in-topic, bad expressed, mixed with personal opinion. Take the time to reflect about what information you really need and re-formulate the question accordingly. |
