That video link should be required watching for every martial artist who does any type of "knife defense" training. Knife defense drills are, imo, largely a waste of time. You learn more in a five minute sparring session with a determined knife wielding attacker.

Thank you so much for that in depth explanation! In Pyang Ahn Dan my instructor explained the rising block as being a hammer fist to the side of the opponent's head. Your explanation is quite interesting, I can't wait to play with it. It definitely makes more sense.
