comment How do I find out what are the laws on edged weapons in my country?
Carrying something to prove to a police officer that you know the law better than him and he can't stop you is a bad idea. Just saying...

comment Martial Arts Weapons for Home Defense?
@grovberg I think his point is that using martial arts weapons makes it a bit harder to prove self-defense, and this might be an issue. I call that the Cameron Poe Effect. For instance, I have a combat knife, but if someone breaks in I'm getting a kitchen knife. The last thing I need is a lawyer arguing that I'm a freak who keeps military gear in his office and used disproportionate force against the poor burglar who was just after his next fix.

comment Can someone learn Krav Maga moves without exacerbating injuries?
+1 for emphasizing the natural resilience to kill. Anyone interested in martial arts, military history and self-defense should read Col. Dave Grossman book, On Killing. For anyone who isn't a psychopath, shooting another human being -- even in self-defense -- is not like shooting a paper target.

comment Krav Maga, is it 100% legal for defense?
This isn't a direct answer to the question, but it's sound advice. Very nice. I might also add that you should never put the attacker in a position that he has no choice other than fighting you.

If your life is in real danger and your choice is between going to jail or staying alive, then maybe it makes sense to say you should not give this any concern. If it's not a life threatening situation, ignoring the law is the easiest way to find yourself as a new entry in the prison system.

comment Why is Krav Maga expensive?
Maybe it's like that where you live. I practiced Krav Maga in Brazil, where there's a federation and affiliated instructors are required to have at least a green belt, which means at least 3 years, and they have to attend a dedicated course that lasts for a year. If they don't have formal PE education, they have to go through a certified course on that too.

comment Muay Thai or Krav Maga?
If you're limited in your choices, go for the best instructor you can find, not for a particular art A or B.
