comment How do I choose a boxing glove?
aberration: that is an option, but would probably add to much weight. kioopi: That is very interesting. Around here ( in ontario, canada) I was under the impression that it was 16 all the time. Could just be our government trying to hard to keep people safe.

great answer David! I would have to disagree with SAJ14SAJ. "Going for Distance" aka Reaching Long applies to male and female rollers.

comment Endurance problems while practicing martial art
i agree 100% with this answer. get more fit is all fine and dandy, but judging by the "i wake up tired" and i eat a lot of sugar. it's likely not a fitness problem. Fix your diet and it's amazing how much more "fit" a person will seem.

de ashi bari (or hari) is probably the foot sweep you are referring to :) or perhaps ko soto gari. depending which direction you take the foot into.

comment What submissions are not allowed in competitive Judo?
a solid post, but i really have to disagree with : "It's also common for judoka to view groundwork as more tiring or time-consuming than stand-up work. Many players avoid groundwork for that reason." i don't know anyone who thinks it's more tiring, it really is just the lack of time allowed that deters most judoka from engaging in ground work. And the BJJ style triangle is ONLY called for being illegal if you pull down on the head. lots of bjj people can finish with out that.

comment How is the scoring determined in Judo for the Olympics?
I don't think that has ever been the rule, as far back as I can remember (about 15 years), 2 waza aris equaled ippon.

comment Proper diet for preparing for a tournament
how often are you training? how long are your training sessions? how intense? do you have any dietary restrictions? I'm not a nutritionist, but i could write a novel on this topic, just need more details

a well placed knee to the head is a deadly weapon, ask aoiki: youtube.com/watch?v=lDYCLThJebw I agree #4, with that specific technique isn't great, but there are some good options to escaping collar grips and chokes from the front.

comment How to best maintain mount position
granted, it's best from side control, but i wouldn't call it a waste from mount. if all else fails, they'll often straighten their arm to avoid it, or like you said bridge, and when they do, hello arm bar.

i'm going to have to disagree with the americana from mount being a waste, i've finished 2 fights a couple tournaments ago with it :P you make a good point about setting up the subs and not worrying about staying in mount though. i do often catch the arm bars on the way off. but the points game is still a huge part of the sport.

comment What can I do to improve my squat for judo throws during randori?
ankle flexibility might be the problem as well, i suppose that is part of leg flexibility, but it's often overlooked. I've had trouble with squats in the past, and it was due to inflexible ankles!
