How does a non-grappler train to be ready to avoid grappling in a real-world situation? I found eye jabs, throat strikes, and kicking to break a knee a good way as a striker to take the fight out of a grappler. |

How does a non-grappler train to be ready to avoid grappling in a real-world situation? I've used it to gain space where I can make a counter move, even from the ground. Main issue I find in training when not using protective gear is that strikers like myself are usually not allowed to hit full force, training partners tend to not like that. Best way I found at looking at this tactic is how Tony himself describes it. It is a tool to allow me to get to the other tools in my toolbox |

How does a non-grappler train to be ready to avoid grappling in a real-world situation? I disagree with a grappler will almost always win against a striker. Depends on how several factors as to who will win. For example a well placed knee does wonders to prevent someone shooting in for a take down. |

What is a good push-up routine to build punch strength? Standard pushups work just fine. If looking to build strength I would suggest barbell exercises such as the presses (bench and overhead), along with pushups. dips, and pullups. Also make sure your technique is solid. Jack Dempsey wrote a book many years ago on power generation (Championship Fighting). |

Has anyone had/recovered from achilles rupture? It is always the last time on the drill.. As I've said I've known people that have done this on box jumps, and they have done box jumps hundreds of times in the past. Suddenly the stars aligned and poof, injury. |

What is the most effective way to stabilize a WaveMaster 2XL? Ours were water filled, no issue for me moving them. Sand I've found to be better in my own experience. |

What is the most effective way to stabilize a WaveMaster 2XL? I'm with Dave, I have yet to find a way to stabilize them against a strong force, the things are going to move around the floor. I used to see how far I could move it during exercises. |

How do I increase my wrist strength for punching? Without seeing a video how do we know it is bad form or bad wrist strength? My experience tends to say form is usually the fault the majority of the time. YMMV. I would disagree that form always breaks down once you hit anything but air. Again, just my experience. |

How do I increase my wrist strength for punching? Pikup a copy of John Brookfield's book "Mastery of Hand Strength". Lots of good information. |

Is weight training useful in martial arts? Weight training can focus on strength or size, or both. Heck even endurance. All depends on the weight used and the scheme (reps and sets). |

How do I increase my wrist strength for punching? I'll vouch for this. My girlfriend, who does Krav, told me her wrist hurts whenever she tosses a hook punch. First punch I could see her from for the punch was off. Couple of quick tips and no more pain when tossing a hook. |
