What is the best martial art for reducing back pain and stress while increasing my fitness? I've never heard of it before; do you have a link to any references or additional information? (+1 for the phrase "when practices respectfully".) |

How dangerous is it to choke someone unconscious or to be choked unconscious? Dammit Dave, I'm a project manager, not a doctor.... (That's what passes for humor in my mind). Seriously, I'm not sure I'm qualified to convey the specifics, but if the choke is producing results that show up as a shadow on a brainscan, then chokes are more dangerous than we thought. I'll ask again this weekend and let you know. |

What are good martial arts for aging bodies? +1 just for mentioning bujinkan budotaijutsu - I've been waiting for a practitioner of that art. Close friend of mine studied it and I admired what she was taught. |

Why drop the bokken vertical prior to a downstroke? In mugai ryu the blade is held slightly above horizontal. The only friendly I have a chance of injuring is someone about 7 feet tall who is already uncomfortably close to me. And the tip has to pass through a 4' circle around my body so it wouldn't be any use in confined spaces. I think your answer is good, but I've failed to draw an adequate word picture. |
