I'm a martial arts fanatic currently practising the art of Weng Chun (not related to Wing Chun), which is said to be derived from a Shaolin temple in southern China. In the near future I am hoping to add one or two other styles to my training program, such as Bagua, Tai chi or Aikido. Bajiquan seems really cool too, however there are no Baji schools in the Netherlands :(

Helmet for knife fighting sparring No, that's not what I meant. Just a misinterpretation. 'Stab' is the right word here, a 'jab' is a short straight punch ;) |

Helmet for knife fighting sparring Ok, I somehow thought that you were using real knives, although I can't remember from what I got that. Maybe from #1. where you mention accidental stabs. :p |

What is the oldest documented Eastern Martial Art that is still practiced? Do note that I don't want to instantly disbelief your side of the story, but I don't let my idea of any truth be converted by just one opinion or article. The Bhodidharma legend has been the most believed one for centuries, also researched by numerous historicians (although I'm pretty sure that wasn't a profession more than a century ago) who did still cling onto that legend after their research. |

What is the oldest documented Eastern Martial Art that is still practiced? Any one can make claims, and I don't see how someone like Stanley Henning would ever have had inquiry in historical documents of many centuries old. Besides his own website there aren't many notable mentionings about him to be found. Both links you provided in your previous comments are articles written by him. 'Numerous others' or googling for Tang Hao doesn't really seem to get me anywhere. |

What is the oldest documented Eastern Martial Art that is still practiced? When talking about written documents, I of course didn't talk about some magazine but documents from that time. Also, the 'destroyer of myths' is just one person's ideas. (I also mentioned what I answered is a legend, not the true story per sé. Most people still hang on to this story.) |

Straight punch to the head and knockout Of course it won't immediately kill or seriously injure you, no. But where many ko's can cause severe damage, one causes a little damage still. You may not immediately be able to tell the difference but it's not good. I wouln't want to be any bit responisble for that... |

Straight punch to the head and knockout I just explained why it's harmful, and you still want to do it with any opponent in a match??! Goddam. |

Helmet for knife fighting sparring please switch to rubber or wooden knives! Sooner or later it will accidentally come towards someone's throat. Brrrr |

Ueshiba and Tomiki picture identification A good tip for whenever you want more info about a picture: Drag it in Google Images. A yellow box will appear upon dragging it over the window, then Google can search the web for that exact picture ;) |

Wing chun modification with only palm heel strikes? The CQC 'instructor' is a hypocrite. And an amateur who doesn't know what he's talking about. He has instruction videos about Wing Chun, yet also has a video 'never punch in a street fight' where the title is meant literally. Wing Chun FOCUSSES on punching mainly. |
