Martial Arts Vs Self-Defense I voted to close, but I think it can be salvaged with a good edit. I think I know where you are trying to go with this. |

Quickly learning the full essentials of Krav Maga But it's all KM. Hostage and counter terrorism are concept based, and are pretty independent of the martial art selected. The rest is still KM, but a "civilian" discipline wouldn't choose to include those, as they aren't particularly relevant. |

Injury during training session, after 2 months still feel the pain Lets see, a few months ago I suffered an injury. It hasn't healed and is impacting my training negatively. What should I do? I know, I'll ask the intertubes! Go to a doctor and get it checked already. |

How can I judge the competency of a teacher? Possibly. I've never played hockey, but I can go to a 'B' league event and tell if the team is well coached or not. It's a discussion point for sure, it may depend on their (the prospective student's) own athletic background. |

How can I judge the competency of a teacher? -1 for the perpetuation of the mcdojo myths. There are legitimate reasons for all of the "negative" reasons you list (With the possible exception of emphasis on money), and none of that helps answer the OP's question. |

Is the Olympic sport of Tae Kwon Do uniquely Tae Kwon Do like? -1 for a mix of personal opinion with misconception. The reason Karate practitioners practice in TKD clubs is because there is a requirement to hold a belt in WTF style TKD to be eligible for WTF tournaments. As long as that is met, any practitioner (Muay Thai, etc) can compete for a spot as long as they follow the qualifying rules in their country. Very doubtful a bare knuckle/knockout style would be allowed, as safety is paramount. Referencing boxing, compare pro boxing with Olympic and the differences in gear/scoring, all in the name of safety. There are also stringent governing body reqs. |

How do I find out what are the laws on edged weapons in my country? Ask your local law enforcement. Laws in the US vary by state, for example last I knew in California it was illegal to have certain weapons unless you were specifically on your way to/from a class, while in Arizona the same weapon is legal at any time. |

What are the signs *not* to train at a specific school? @Trevoke No worries, mine was just an addendum, Sard's was more complete so I didn't feel the need to repeat. :D |

How to repair a mat with a hole in it? I believe there are kits that have like a caulking compound and a vinyl latex that you can paint over the top of it. resilite.com/Departments/Wrestling-Mats-and-Supplies/… swainmats.com/store/store/comersus_listItems.asp?idCategory=31 |

Where can I find or how can I make a tailored white dogi for women? Agreed. You almost need a serger to handle the thickness, especially on the reinforced/seams parts. I've even had trouble sewing a simple instructor ribbon on the collar of a traditional dobok. |
