What is the proper technique for holding a Century-style body shield for use in Taekwondo? just to add on, in my TKD school we don't use the straps and just hold the shield on diagonal corners. That way your arm doesn't smash into your body every time! |

What are the primary differences between poomsae and hyungs? Did your instructor delve into the applications of the forms? A lot of the movements that would seem otherwise pointless, actually apply to self defense techniques if you use a little imagination. |

Does it help to use shorter breaks during training than during competition? Boxing, so this definitely applies to you. I do Taekwondo btw, so I'm not claiming any specific boxing expertise. But if your competition has 5 rounds of 2 min each and you train to be able to do 5 rounds of 4 min each, the 2 min rounds should be cake! But that means you should be trying to throw twice as many punches and equally trying to dodge twice as many hits in the 4 min rounds. |

What are the philosophical differences between the TKD Kwan? This is an interesting question, though the differences you seek in the kwans may be irrelevant today as those 8-13 kwans are over 50 years old so I think it may really boil down to the differences in each school. |

What are the differences between ITF and WTF Tae-Kwondo? Well if you mean doing side kick with the heel vs the blade of the foot, then I have learned both of those at my school which is WTF. Then again my teacher takes here and there from other arts. |

Benefits of an X-Stop in Tae Kwon Do? Well I agree its probably for more power, but you wouldn't do it as a solitary strike. Going into cross over stance for a single solitary hand strike would be a bad idea as you compromise your balance. I think it is only intended as a followup to a release such as the one I described in my answer. |
