Do all schools of BJJ come from the same root? @Patricia how is Nova Uniao direct from Maeda? Pederneiras is a Carlson BB. |

Do all schools of BJJ come from the same root? In general, this answer is right. But I'm not sure about the specifics. That circus example doesn't match anything I've ever read before. Not that it matters much... |

Where can I find or how can I make a tailored white dogi for women? I was thinking about BJJ gis too, but they mostly just come in pink or with some feminine designs. I'm not sure they're actually a different cut. |

Judo gis for lanky players? What concerns me there is they don't have any Judo gis listed. Judo requires sleeves to be a certain length, so while a gi might fit fine and let you move as you need to, if the sleeves and pants are too short, you're SOL. Certainly can't compete and training partners won't be too happy about it either. Aikido gis go the opposite way from what I've seen, keeping the sleeves short to facilitate practicing wrist locks. |

Where can I go to order cheap grappling mat(s) for beginners? @WayneInML how expensive are they? Horses are pretty expensive, I'd expect related equipment to be similarly cost prohibitive |

How can I deal with the impressive number of charlatan teachers in Italy? @Rophuine I fully agree. Including a fitness component in classes just gets redundant for those who are actually serious about improving it and developing it (I've seen a few talented martial artists leave some classes because too much of the class was devoted to conditioning, which they were already doing on their own time, likely explaining why they were that good). |

How can I deal with the impressive number of charlatan teachers in Italy? @Rophuine certainly that's a good thing to look for, but what you also need to take into account is that some martial arts condition students to be submissive to higher ranks. That's even harder to tell, but generally what you'll see if that hasn't been done is a few talented lower ranking students able to do well or beat the majority of higher ranked students, while in general rank and ability line up as expected. |

Does Krav Maga have any roots of Aikido? Good call on practicing lots of martial arts, but I didn't see any BJJ in there. Sure there were Jujigatames, but the entries were all TJJ. |

Is it true that most fights end on the ground? What is the evidence? @DaveLiepmann Still though, while looking at MMA fights alone is a problem, the fact that frequency of going to the ground in an MMA fight is consistent with frequency of going to the ground in a street fight/assault is still quite telling. A lot of fights between untrained opponents hit the ground, again with 'most' being 51% or more, most fights do go to the ground. |

Is it true that most fights end on the ground? What is the evidence? I disagree about using MMA results being misguided. You can look at what happens when fighter A wants to keep the fight standing and fighter B wants to take the fight to the ground (fighter B gets his wish, absent strong wrestling skills for fighter A). You also see what happens when both fighters have a standup skill set and wish to (ostensibly) keep the fight standing. The moment it goes south for one of them, they take the fight to the ground so they can win. |
