comment Elemental styles?
The art you are looking for is called Anime. Its highly effective and will give you all the abilities you are looking for plus more! Takes a lot of practice and really needs to be combined with the art of "VoiceOver" to bridge lengthy times where the action is paused in the anime.

comment Good shoulder roll from a dive
If you are wanting to know how to do really effective dive rolls, check out the parkour tutorials on the subject. I've done lots of dive rolling in martial arts, but the parkour guys capture a lot of the subtle details that are needed for doing them in all kinds of terrains

yes, if half guard I use lockdown a lot these days. Butterfly I haven't had a lot of success with. Though I often try and get my hooks in for sweeps. I'll tend to transition more into spider guard than butterfly.

@TheWudangKid but a much worse grasp of fighting techniques.

not sure if the strikes would work well, mostly strikes work when you get body weight through them, punches and kicks would reduce to muscles generated force, which would hurt, sure, but not sure if would be too damaging. Rolling out of joint locks could be tricky, rolling requires pushing off something. I think spinning is going to be key in zero gravity, if you use someone to spin you one way, they spin the other way and if you hold a joint, then there's not a lot they can do to stop you or them spinning and their joint will take the force.

comment What information should I consider when choosing a martial art to study?
#4 is wrong I think, or at least its soft advice, and not necessarily true. I know this because I actually did this, I did an art because I liked the instructor, and he was great, but it wasn't really the martial art I wanted to do.

comment How effective are foul techniques as a side control escape?
you could blow in his ear, sing a nursery rhyme, pee your pants, and they all may make them dismount, but they still aren't escapes in the practical sense of a martial arts technique. pain compliance is useful and may or may not get the desired result.

comment When training for more than 90 minutes is it advisable to take a break to recuperate?
I was interested in this, just through my casual googling (ie, I'm an expert now!), it seems this might come about through drinking a bunch of water through the 90 minutes to lower your sodium content. It seems more dependent on how fast you drink bulk amounts of water than the total quantity. Also its unlikely to damage your organs in that time unless you went really crazy with water, but it might account for some fatigue / exhaustion / mental exhaustion you feel. But overall unlikely to be factor unless you drink lots

comment What are the possible signs some has lost consciousness when being choked?
@AyaProgram From what he said, he mistook what the choke was and tried to counter it, which just made it tighter, and I think by that time he just didn't have any time left to tap before losing consciousness.

yeah, I'm better prepared for next time, and I think overall, I'll be looking for anything odd when doing a choke

comment What are good martial arts for aging bodies?
I was going to suggest the this, the ground stuff is not really that good, though Arnis guys won't say that, but if you marry it with jiujitsu, it makes for a great combo.

on ibprofen, don't take it regularly when training, it has the less than desirable effect of lessening the strength gains your body will get through repair
