Nescire autem quid ante quam natus sis acciderit, id est semper esse puerum. Quid enim est aetas hominis, nisi ea memoria rerum veterum cum superiorum aetate contexitur? -- Cicero, Marcus Tullius (106-43BC)

comment Fighting styles that use a katana from the beginning
In Shodokan aikido, sword work is there to improve your Aikido and not to teach you how to use a sword. I suspect that many other styles of Aikido are similar.

Iaido, kenjutsu, kendo for sure. Shodokan Aikido has basic hand movements derived from sword work that are thought within the first 30 minutes of each class. Other styles of Aikido (Iwama?) have weapon training from earlier on.

comment Does Krav Maga have any roots of Aikido?
-1: [..] Aikido are modern "made up" martial arts and have no basis in "tradition". This is utter rubbish. Aikido evolved from Daito ryu Aiki jujutsu practiced by the Takeda family of Kai Province (modern day Yamanashi Prefecture). It has many other influences due to Ueshiba learning various other martial arts during his life.

-1: Aikido is generally seen as an internal martial art but has plenty of "explosive" moves.
