Nescire autem quid ante quam natus sis acciderit, id est semper esse puerum. Quid enim est aetas hominis, nisi ea memoria rerum veterum cum superiorum aetate contexitur? -- Cicero, Marcus Tullius (106-43BC)

comment What is the most effective martial art in a street fight - no weapons?
Actually, both of you are far off. The most effective martial art is gun fighting: easy to train, effective at a distance, and far more likely to make your attacker flee without resourcing to a fight... ^_~

comment What is the most effective martial art in a street fight - no weapons?
I am afraid that this question has too many problems. The term "most effective" is highly subjective and has not been defined. Your three categories of position in a fight are candid at best. You ask a question and give the answer at the same time thus inviting discussion/argumentation. This question needs serious work before it is even remotely suitable.

comment Krav Maga, is it 100% legal for defense?
Your opinions on this are very wrong. Krav Maga is not based on Ninjutsu but on boxing, Muay Thai, Wing Chun, Judo, jiu-jitsu, wrestling, and grappling to name but a few. Ninjutsu is not the art of assassination. None of the Ninja Jūhakkei ("the eighteen disciplines") mention assassination.

It is neither a "nice story" nor is it probably fake. It is utter rubbish.

-1. The urban legend of never washing your belt is utter rubbish.

comment Teaching Students to See the “Big Picture” of a Conflict
@stslavik: Not quiet. What I am driving at is that most people (including instructors) have no idea what conflict is, how it arises, and what it entrails. Therefore they spew and teach rubbish based on false assumptions.

-1. First and second paragraphs are utterly inaccurate. Last paragraph shows an fundamental lack of knowledge of crime, witnesses, or any legal system.

comment What is a good push-up routine to build punch strength?
@TimothyAWiseman: Hum, that's not in kilo right? ^_~ What I meant was too heavy for your door frame. A good door frame should take a normal person. If you are very overweight or muscular, you might find the door frame starts to peel off the wall. If the wood is of poor quality, you will see the frame digging in. As with any equipment, do inspect it before and after use.

I would be very interested in this as well. However, advise reading like "block down the pub told me..." is worst than useless, in fact it is dangerous. So please provide references. Thank you.

@TimothyAWiseman: I do indeed have one of those. They are good provided that (i) your doors are actually well made, and (ii) you are not too heavy.
