comment Stacking mats so they slide less
This is really not my experience with "waffle" grids. We do have those. The mats still slide. ☹

comment Have you seen a fight between *top* Judo and Aikido practitioners?
@css1971 The question is about two Japanese martial arts so a very Japanese view of the martial arts is right on point.

comment Maximizing Liver Shot Damage
@slugster: The edit makes it a better question but not one that I would consider good enough not to down vote and close. Asking for maximum damage and no lasting damage is like eating and having your cake: you cannot have both!

@BillRoberson: If you strike someone with enough force to make them pass out, then chances are that you have caused lasting damage.

comment Maximizing Liver Shot Damage
Your question ask how to deal the maximum damage to a vital organ. The maximum damage is the total destruction of said organ. Any injury involving firearms (maximum damage, right?), or mêlée weapons, or possibly repeated punches/kicks to a liver might cause lasting or catastrophic damage including death. How is this not asking how to kill or hurt somebody? Finally, your comment about self defences shows a lack of understanding of self defence law. Please go a see a lawyer before you get yourself in trouble with the law.

I'm voting to close this question as off-topic because it is asking in a thinly veiled way how best to kill someone. ☹

comment Is it common and expected that shifus give theory classes about stuff like TCM, meridians and joints?
@mattm: The linked study is a A+B vs B. Those type of trials are typical of quakes as they cannot produce negative results thus proving whatever the quakes want to prove. Ditto about Mindfulness-based stress reduction.

@TonyD Since I agree with both of you, I edited the question to have a link to some audio. Hopefully that will help.

This is veering to be off topic! If you want to chat, use chat"

Welcome to the site and thank you for your answer. I slightly edited the format of your post to make it easier to read but otherwise should have left the meaning unchanged.

comment Vegetarian diet for a combat sport athlete?
Roman gladiators' diet was meant to make them fat source, or rather to gain a thick layer of fat over their athletic bodies. It would protect their muscles and joints from wounds: a cut or stab first needed to puncture said thick layer of fat before doing serious damage. This is why gladiators are always depicted as massive. I would not recommend this diet to anyone.

Besides, I am more than happy to change my mind and your post goes a long way in providing evidence shaking my opinion. If an opinion cannot survive in the market place of idea, it is a bad opinion and should be discarded. Thank you, it was just what I was looking for.

As a side note, some of the women in my club were against the idea for the same reasons as mine.

Please do not answer in comments, instead write an answer and I'll give you some fake internet points. Also, do not discus things within comments as we have chat for this. </prevention>. Please see When should/shouldn't I comment?

Irrelevant rant that does not answer the question.

I'm afraid that you do not dictate what other find offensive or not. That is their prerogative. Besides this is a thinly veiled rant, not an answer.

comment What is the difference between a Teacher & an Instructor?
I am voting to close this question as it is either trivial to answer as teach and instructor are synonimes or is trying to pool opinions or just sounds like a bad request for a motivation poster . My vote category is wrong, mouse slipped.

@RedSonja: Thank you for clarifying. Your experience is a prime example as to why I want to use an alternative to "man up" and encourage other instructors to do the same.
