There is a popular wrestling technique which is frequently referred to as the "Polish Throw": it starts from an over under clinch, then the foot on the "over" side is moved behind the opponent, and the throw is performed. See e.g. here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OcdqnuJuyM

I used to think (without checking it) that it was probably named after some particular Polish wrestler who used this technique successfully in competioncompetition. However, I've recently found out that the Polish HEMA "biady" was entirely centered around the over-under clinch, see e.g. here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O038bJY6SZA&t=1462s

As such it seems not unlikely that early 20th century Polish immigrants to US brought this HEMA with them, and "organically" contributed some techniques from it into wrestling, catch wrestling, etc.

Hence my question: does anybody know how the name "Polish Throw" came about?
