  • Welcome to the site. I strongly suggest you looked at the tour to find out how this site works. Under its current form, your question has nothing to do with martial arts whatsoever. It is about medical problems which are off topic. Mar 17, 2017 at 10:42
  • I'm trying to think if there's a medical manner to answer this... basically, doing the splits involves muscles and ligaments, not the testicles. The only ways I could see splits impacting fertility is a) repeated impacts with the floor if not done in a controlled manner or b) constanty pressure on the groin area if settling into a split for a prolonged amount of time (I know there's a measurable effect in bicycle riders from the seat compressing tissue and tubes). This is medical not martial arts specific related, but no you can't become sterile from splits. First off your groin muscles are tied to the legs via tendons to the buttock/abs while the ligaments are tied to the pelvis bone itself. The female reproductive organs are completely inside so no impact worries on reproductive fertility. The male reproductive organs can be damaged from impact to become sterile, but that is impact directly on the organ, not muscles. The reproductive system itself is in no way tied to the muscular system even though all movement is muscular.

So unless you are taking baseball bats or consistent kicking to the crotch I think you will be just fine. Even if you jump split and land it would be ok so long as you land on your legs/buttocks area and not get off balance an land on the front. Even then the human body is more rigorous than a single instance.

P.S. If your hit hard enough to become sterile there is a good chance you passed out awhile back and are in ER...
